COUNSELING & GUIDANCE

The academic success and personal growth of our students are the goals of the counseling program. Students with academic, personal or career planning problems are encouraged to consult the counseling department (SSC 208).

Career Counseling
Students with career planning concerns may be counseled individually or attend a career awareness seminar to assist students with career decision-making. The computerized guidance system “Discover” is integrated into career counseling at Western.

This system, updated on a yearly basis, assists students with education and career choices by accessing information about occupations, work, environments, and options. To make an appointment for individual career counseling or to attend a Career Awareness Seminar contact the counseling department. All counseling services are available to Western students at no charge.

Personal Counseling
Students who need help coping with the stress of balancing college, work, and a personal life; who need personal counseling; or who are in a crisis situation can request help by contacting the Counseling Office at (580) 477-7710. Students may see counselors at no expense on a walk in basis, or by appointment.
