FINANCIAL AID
POLICIES & CONDITIONS
SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS FOR STUDENTS ON FINANCIAL AID
  1. If a student fails to complete the hour status (full, three quarter, halftime) he or she was paid for by the grant or loan, the student will be placed on probation for one semester.

  2. If a student fails to meet the required overall grade point average for hours attempted, he or she will be placed on probation for one semester.

  3. A student who is on probation must successfully complete the next semester of enrollment or face suspension from financial aid.

  4. A student who is on suspension will be required to successfully complete a semester of at least six credit hours without federal student aid and earn at least a 2.0 GPA.

  5. The hours that a student withdraws from are not counted as hours attempted in the admissions office but are in the Financial Aid office when they fall below the original enrollment paid status (full-time, three-quarter time, half-time).

  6. A student who achieves a grade point average of 2.0 or above in the last semester in which the student is enrolled will be considered to be making satisfactory progress regardless of his/her overall grade point average.

  7. Failure to attend classes on a regular basis can result in the suspension of financial aid.

  8. A student has the right to appeal. Appeals should be made in writing to the financial aid committee stating the case and asking for a hearing. The decision of the committee will be final.

  9. Students will be given one and a half times the time or number of hours required to complete their program of study. Adjustments will be made according to whether the student is a full-time or part-time student. For example, a student will not be considered to be making satisfactory progress and will not be funded when their cumulative hours attempted are greater than 90. Exceptions will be made on a case-by-case basis only and is left to the discretion of the director of financial aid.

  10. Transfer students or those returning after five or more years must meet the admissions standards policy and then be evaluated for financial aid eligibility. The appeal rule will be in effect.

  11. Students who are placed on probation repeatedly may be suspended.

  12. A student must also meet the academic criteria for continued eligibility.
