Online Classes Technical Requirements

Please begin by using the Online Classes Browser Check to make sure your internet browser is Ok to use with Moodle, aka Online Classes. More information about browsers can be found below.

  • REQUIREMENT: Enable Cookies and disable Pop-up's for wosc.edu. (see below for help) Quizzes will not work if pop-ups are being blocked by any program.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Western's standard software for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations is currently Microsoft Office 2010, with file extensions of .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx. File extensions such as .wps (MS Works) are not acceptable. MS Works users should go under the "File" menu to "Save As.." and check the various file formats to which the file can be saved. Potential alternatives also include the use of OpenOffice and Google Docs which can both manage these types of files. Acceptable formats may include: .doc (Word2003 or earlier), .docx (Word2007-10), .rtf (Rich Text Format), .pdf (Adobe Acrobat), .xls (Excel2003 or earlier), .xlsx (Excel2007-10), .ppt/pps (PowerPoint2003 or earlier), .pptx/ppsx (PowerPoint2007-10), or .jpg (JPEG). Depending on the course and instructor, other file formats may be acceptable, so be sure to ask your instructor or check the assignment requirements in your course.
