Ag donors, students recognized at banquet

Western Oklahoma State College held the 36th annual Agriculture Scholarship Banquet August 25. This banquet is held each year to both honor the scholarship recipients and recognize the donors.

Over $25,000 in scholarships were awarded at the banquet.

First year agriculture scholarship recipients included Shay Aaron, Patrick Bakley, Jason Beach, Travis Bourgeois, Shelby Briscoe, Cooper Bruce, Cody Chambers, Cory Clark, Seth Hasemann, Hannah Helvey, Kelsey James, Derrick Jantzen, Josey Kenmore, Denver Kilcrease, William Kime, Travis Leanmon, Marin Lorne, Morgan Martinez, Skyler McBride, Casey McKelvain, Michael Mousseau, Jarrett Nash, Derek Newson, Kolt Ostentowski, Zach Perkins, Tristan Pineda, Tyler Popsecul, Justin Quisenberry, Shelby Rackliff, Robert Riggin, Warren Robinson, Travis Rogers, Travis Smith, Jared Thompson, Taylor Thompson, Tara Timms and Paige Williamson.

Sophomore ag students at banquet

Second year agriculture scholarship recipients, pictured at left, included Isaac Bates, Casey Bertram, Buddy Childress, Christian Dewbre, Bailey Drury, Kyle Irwin, Christina Kelly, A.J. Ostrander, Jesse Popsecul and Kaleb Wilber.

Contributions totaling $100-$300 came from All-American Short Stop in Blair, Alta Exports International, Hollis Livestock Commission, Inc., Southwest Garden Center, and Southwest Veterinary Clinic of Hobart.

General scholarships in the amount of $400 came from Abernathy Angus, Abernathy Farms, Barnes Feed in Hobart, Bar-S, Chad and Ericka Wiginton, Cody and Rachel Beckner, Crop Production Services, Farmers Co-op Gin at Martha, Farmers & Merchants Bank, Glen Winters, Harmon Electric Association, Helena Chemical, Humphrey's Co-op, Kizziar Feed Lots, Inc., Larry and Sharon Duffy, Lazy C Western Wear, Livingston Machinery, Mitchell-Barnett Farmers Insurance, NBC Bank, Peoples State Bank of Blair, Planters Cooperative Association of Lone Wolf, Shamrock Bank, Stockmans Bank, and Western Equipment, LLC.

Those reaching the Bronze level of giving ($500) were Century 21 Prestige Realty, First State Bank of Altus, Jackson County Farm Bureau, and Kathy Fowler Insurance.

Farmers Cooperative Association of Eldorado was a silver-level donor ($800).

Gold-level donors ($1,000 and above) were AgPreference, Cotton Growers Cooperative and First National Bank in Altus.
