Judith Norton is the Director of Public Information at Western Oklahoma State College. Judith plans and implements all the advertising and marketing that promotes Western to Southwest Oklahoma and the state at large. Her office is responsible for generating publications promoting college programs and the school’s weekly newsletter, Pioneer News.
Judith joined the Western team in April 2011 after finishing a 12 year career in the Army with the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus. During her years of service Judith sang in 49 states, on 33 tours with the band. Not only did she sing but she was also a section leader overseeing a six member team, an Equal Opportunity Representative for her unit, an Army regulation trainer and a member of the unit's production team. Judith gained valuable skills in all these areas that serve her in her work today at Western.
Highlights of her military career include singing at the state funerals of Presidents Ronald Reagan and Gerald Ford, with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the London Symphony. Judith is a 1990 Altus High graduate and former Junior Rotarian.
Judith is pursuing a Master of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations with Kent State Universtiy. She holds a Master of Music from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Music from Oklahoma Baptist University. In 1996 Judith represented Oklahoma Rotary District 5770 as a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholar. She lived in Tuscany during her scholarship year and was involved with the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs of Siena, her host city. Judith is fluent in Italian as a result of her studies.
Judith is a member of the Altus Rotary Club and is a coordinator for Western’s Rotaract Club. She is a member of the Oklahoma College Public Relations Association and also serves on the executive board. She is also an active member of the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, Communicators Council.
