Student Senate

The Student Senate is the central student organization with class officers and class representatives, called senators, elected at large from the student body by the respective freshman and sophomore classes. The Senate and its committees have the responsibility of establishing student government policies and recommending general student regulations, sponsoring and supervising the various student activities. The Senate works with the Western's faculty and administration on matters of mutual interest as outlined in the Constitution of the Student Association and the Student Senate (Legislative Body). The Student Senate also coordinates and sanctions all student organizations on campus with the approval of the Vice President of Student Affairs.

Officers of the Student Senate are president, vice president, secretary and parliamentarian, who are elected from within the Senate body made up of the freshman and sophomore class officers and class representatives, called senators. The Student Senate meets weekly.
