Western will hold its commencement exercises on
Friday, May 9 at 8 p.m. in the Western gymnasium.
Following are some of the events that will take place:
The Western Jazz Band, directed by Gary Gardner, will perform
various medley pieces followed by the playing of “Pomp and
Circumstance”.
Reverend Jason Duree of the Southside Baptist Church will lead the
invocation. The Western Choir, directed by Karla Shelby, will sing
“The Prayer” by Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster, arrangement by
Tina Chinn.
Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Randy Smith, will recognize
the students who are graduating with academic honors. Student Senate
President, Lindsey Stehr, will announce the 2007-2008 Teacher of the
Year.
President Randy Cumby will introduce the commencement speaker: Board
of Regents member, Dean Graumann.
President of Instructional Faculty Association, Rebekkah Morrow,
will read the names of the graduates. Reverend Joseph Arledge of the
Prince of Peace Catholic Church will lead the benediction.
