BUCHANAN AND GERSTENBERGER NAMED MR. AND MS. WOSC |

Samuel Buchanan and Janna Gerstenberger were named
Mr. and Ms. WOSC in a luncheon where each candidate was honored and
their parents were guests last week. Candidates were nominated by
faculty and staff members. A faculty or staff member made a speech
about the positive contributions that the nominee had made to the
college. The entire student body, faculty, and staff had an
opportunity to vote for Mr. and Ms. WOSC.
Janna Gerstenberger (Stephenville, Tex.) is the daughter of Don and
Cara Gerstenberger. She is a Western Ambassador, a member of the
Lady Pioneer basketball team, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and
Baptist Collegiate Ministries.
Sam Buchanan (Slidell, Tex.) is the son of John and Melinda Buchanan. He is
on the Pioneer baseball team and a peer tutor.
Other nominees for Mr. and Ms. WOSC were as follows: Sara Bennight
(Frederick) daughter of James and Sharla Bennight. She is secretary
of Phi Theta Kappa and a member of Student Senate.
Elisabeth Bledsoe (Big Pasture) is the daughter of Kim and Michael
Bledsoe. She is a Western Ambassador and a member of the Fellowship
of Christian Athletes.
Elida Carlucci (MacArthur High School) is the daughter of Nick
Carlucci and Gloria Cowleys. She is a Student Senate representative
for Psi Beta and president of Psi Beta.
Ginger Inks (Granite) is the daughter of Donna Inks. She is a member
of Psi Beta, the Behavioral Science Club, service learning project
at New Hope, and on the President’s Honor Roll.
Amanda Meeks (Tipton) is the daughter of Jimmy and Marquita Meeks.
She is a member of the Aggie Club, a Western Ambassador, and will be
a student delegate to China this summer.
Sarah O’Hair (Altus) is the daughter of Dianne Augustine. She is the
recipient of the Oklahoma All-Academic award, a member of the WOSC
Choral Society, and the WOSC Performing Arts Club.
Courtney Overbay (Altus) is the daughter of Anthony and Kathy
Overbay and Carl and Shelley Vinson. She is the vice president of
the Jazz band, a member of the orchestra for Grease, and a stage
manager for Back to the 80’s.
Trinity Simmons (Mangum) is the daughter of Reid and Pam Simmons.
She is on the Pioneer softball team, participates in “Meet You at
the Pole,” works in the Financial Aid office, is listed in “Who’s
Who Among College Students” and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa.
Courtney Snow (Stephenville) is the daughter of Frank and Christie
Snow. She is on the Lady Pioneer basketball team and a member of Phi
Theta Kappa.
Celso Cardona (Snyder) is the son of Ruth and Celso Cardona. He is a
member of the Criminal Justice Club, participates in WINDS and
Student Senate.
Andrew Dixon (Tipton), is the son of John and Charlena Dixon. He is
listed in “Who’s Who Among American Junior College Students” and the
Vice President’s Honor Roll.
Kris Ducharme (Altus) is the son of David and Donna Ducharme. He is
a member of Student Senate, the Catholic Collegiate Club, the Jazz
Band, made the OMEA Intercollegiate Honor Band, and is a lifeguard
at Western.
Cody McAskill (Altus) is the son of Tom and Denise McAskill. He is
the lead trumpet in the Western Jazz Band, plays in the orchestra at
the musicals, made the OMEA Intercollegiate Honor Band, is a
lifeguard, in the computer club, and the Vice President’s Honor
Roll.
Brennan Leighton (Mtn. View-Gotebo) is the son of Neil and Betty
Leighton. He is a member of the Aggie Club and Psi Beta.
Justin O’Neil (Mangum) is the son of Jack and Lenita O’Neil. He is a
member of Western’s golf team, the Choral Society, and has roles in
the musicals Grease and Back to the 80’s. He was the Jack Kent Cook
Foundation Scholarship nominee and made the ACDA two-year Honor
Choir. He is also a member of Student Senate, Baptist Collegiate
Ministries, Phi Theta Kappa, and was listed on the spring 2007
President’s Honor Roll.
Jared Speer (Altus) is the son of Terri and Doug Speer. He is a
member of Phi Theta Kappa and the Student Senate Vice President. His
paintings have been displayed all over campus.
