The nursing department will hold a “Pinning and
Lamplighting” ceremony Thursday, May 8 @ 7:00 p.m. in the Western
gymnasium. The ceremony will honor nursing graduates as well as
those completing their first year of the two-year program.
A record number 75 nurses will graduate from Western this year.
Nursing Program Coordinator Chrystal Overton says there will
probably be more next year. “We hope to have 90 to 100 graduate next
year,” said Overton.
The program has continued to grow since establishing campuses in
Lawton, Duncan, and Elk City. Twenty-seven will graduate from the
Lawton campus, 20 from Altus, 14 from Elk City, and 14 from Duncan.
