Western participated in the National Collegiate
Alcohol Awareness Week (NCAAW) October 21-27, 2007. More than 1,000
college and university campuses across the nation took part in
activities to reinforce personal responsibility and respect for
current state laws when it comes to the consumption of alcohol
beverages.
The calendar of events started on Monday, October 22 and Wednesday,
October 24 with the Healthy Lifestyle and Volunteer event. Then on
Friday, October 26, Western had its Alcohol Free Tail-Gate Party.
Hot dogs, chips, and drinks were served and music was provided.
Also on hand at the tail-gate event was the Oklahoma Highway
Department demonstrating a roll-over simulator. In the picture,
Deputy Sheriff Kyle Johnson with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s
Department and Oklahoma Highway Safety Office. Johnson is shown
demonstrating the effects of a rollover at 20 m.p.h. as a dummy
flies out the driver side window.
