UPWARD BOUND
WOSC UB INFORMATION

The purpose of the Upward Bound program is to generate the skills and motivation necessary for participants to complete their secondary education and complete a post-secondary education.

 The program currently serves 70 students in the following communities:

Davidson, Eldorado, Hollis, Lone Wolf, Olustee, Snyder, and Tipton.

Free Services and activities for students and parents include the following:

            Tutoring and study skills, Monthly Saturday Enrichment Classes, ACT workshops, financial aid and scholarship information and applications, College-Prep classes and information, A six-week, on-campus, summer enrichment program, college campus visits.

Chaperones:
Parents are encouraged to serve as chaperones during sponsored activities. (field trips, campus visits, cultural activities, etc.)

Community Service Projects: 
Upward Bound schedule community service projects throughout the year for students.  Parents are encouraged to participate.

Fundraising Activities:
Program participants and parents raise money to sponsor activities, field trips, scholarships, and other special programs.

Parents’ Advisory Board:
Parents’ opinions are valuable and vital to the success of Upward Bound.  Advisory Board creates opportunities for parents to express their opinions.

Parent Workshops:
Parents are invited and encouraged to participate in college-related workshops.
