How to edit your page content (step-by-step)

  1. Log-in to wosc.edu/admin (first.lastname)
  2. Under Content click Pages
  3. Click Expand All Sections, to show the pages you have access to.
  4. Click on the page title you want to edit
  5. Scroll down to the editor box and edit your content *See information below for help*
    (I recommend having the page you are editing up on another window to see your changes)
  6. Click Submit when you are finished.

    1. Repeat above steps 1 through 4
    2. Find and click the tab Left Side Blocks (located just above the top Submit button)
    3. Edit the top block and click Submit at the bottom.

 

- How to Change your password... Red Required image!

A: Go to My Preferences > Click on My Account. Change Password and Click Submit.

508 Compliance Example- How to add the Attribute (or in Moodle, Alternate Text) to stay 508 compliant....Red Required image!

A: When adding or editing an image, you MUST insert the image's description in the text box that says "Image description".


- How to insert an image...
A: First click the image button, then click the browse button, then click the Browse button. After clicking Upload simply click on the image you have just uploaded and a preview bix will appear. If you are happy with the size please describe the image under the Title text box, Red Required image!. Click Insert to finish.

- How to attach/update files (.PDF, .DOC, .XLS, etc...)

A: Go to your Page you want to insert a file into. Type and highlight the word(s) you will be linking the file. Click on the Chain Link that says "Insert/edit link" and then click the Browse button next to Link URL, click on Choose File and upload the file you would like to see on that page. After uploading that file simply click on the file and then describe the file under the Title text box, Red Required image!. Click Insert to finish.


- How to copy and paste...

A: Some of you may know how to use the Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste. When you paste in the edit box a popup box will appear and that is where you paste your text. If you are pasting from MS Word or another word processing program you need to use the "Paste from Word" icon in the top left corner of the edit box.

- How to make a link to an external website (ie: www.cnn.com)...

A: Type and highlight the word(s) you will be linking the file. Click on the Chain Link that says "Insert/edit link" and type the website location in the Link URL text box.

- How to make an internal link...

A: The easiest way to do this is to point where you want to make a link to another page on our website, click the icon with a Palm Tree and a Chain Link in front of it. Scroll down untill you see the site you would like to link.

- How to make a text box appear when you mouse over a file/link/image...

A: When adding or editing a page, file, or image simply look for the "Title" text box and insert your description there.

- How to open a page in a new window...


A: When adding a link, click the "Target" box and select "_blank". Click Insert to finish.

Q: Why is my page under "Pages with no Perent"?

A: All new pages go to this parent page. If you are unable to change it please call or email either IT or the PR department. You must change this when you first add a new page under the Parent drop-down box.

Q: What does the {title} mean?

A: Most pages were created with the Website How-To's tag, this places the page name in the top left corner in large bold text. You may delete this or keep this.

Q: How do I get the "Pioneer Line Break" shown on this page?

A: Simply click where you need a line break and press the insert image button
, then copy and paste this location: ../uploads/moodle/pics/hrpioneer.png in the "Image URL" and dont forget to put an ALT tag for 508 compliance.
