Can I take all the classes that I need for my degree on base?

The Associate of Applied Science in Military Studies is offered in its entirity on Altus Air Force Base. Additionally, an overwhelming majority of the General Education requirements for the CCAF can be completed on base. However, It is not possible to offer all classes on base. For example, we cannot put laboratory facilities on base. On base classes are offered in the evenings in Bldg 87 in the 8-week format. Western works in conjunction with the Education Office at AAFB to provide the classes pertinent to AD military personnel to meet their educational goals. Contact the AAFB Liaison for class or scheduling requests.

How does a Western degree plan fit with pursuit of the CCAF degree?

It is possible to work toward a Western degree plan and allow the courses that are taken for the Western degree to also fill requirements for the CCAF. This can be done provided that the student pursues them both at the same time.

Will the courses that I take at Western transfer to another institution?

There should be no problem with this. Western's instructors have to meet the same requirements as those in the bigger schools. A course at Western should be as good as the same course being taught anywhere else. There should be no logical reason for them not to be acceptable at other schools. The one exception is that a college cannot accept credit in an area that it does not have an equivalent program in.

How do I decide what I want to study?

It is important to spend considerable time asking, "What can I see myself doing someday, that I could enjoy doing for a career?" Think about hobbies that you might have that might evolve into a career. Think about things that you just enjoy learning more about. If one still cannot settle on a degree plan, visit Student Services at 477-7921.
