HSA Shares Dia de los Muertos Display on Campus
Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a vibrant Mexican tradition that celebrates and honors loved ones who have passed away. Observed on November 1st and 2nd, it combines indigenous beliefs with Catholic traditions, creating a unique cultural event. The iconic sugar skulls, colorful papel picado, and decorated skeletons symbolize the acceptance of death as a natural part of life. Rather than a somber occasion, Día de los Muertos is a time of love, remembrance, and celebration, where stories are shared, memories are honored, and the presence of ancestors is warmly welcomed.
This year, students from the Hispanic Student Association created a *Día de los Muertos* display on campus on November 6th to honor their loved ones. The display featured a beautifully crafted *ofrenda*, inviting the campus community to celebrate and remember together.
