TRIO WINDS proudly hosted and celebrated First-Generation College Day on Friday, November 7. Students, faculty, and staff joined together to recognize and honor those who are the first in their families to pursue a college degree.

The event featured cupcakes, buttons, and a photo station, creating a fun and welcoming space for first-generation students to share their stories. Congratulations to Allyssa Hickman, winner of the $25 gift card giveaway.

TRIO WINDS also highlighted that all five TRIO staff members on campus are first-generation college graduates themselves—an inspiring reminder of the power of persistence and opportunity. As part of the celebration, faculty and staff were invited to self-identify as first-generation to support ongoing initiatives and programming for first-generation students at Western.

Thank you to everyone who helped make First-Generation College Day a meaningful celebration of the diverse paths that shape our Pioneer community.
