The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation is pleased to announce Lonnie and Renee Long as new President’s Partners, recognizing their commitment to education and the Altus community.

Lonnie, originally from Hollis, Oklahoma, and Renee, a native of Altus, made their home in Altus, where they raised their two sons, Jackson and Landon. Together, they built a life centered on family, service, and community involvement. They now enjoy serving in their community, playing golf, and spending time with their two grandchildren.

Lonnie and Renee both recently retired after distinguished careers of service. Lonnie spent 42 years as a pharmacist, having worked in and owned Rexco Pharmacy in Altus. Renee devoted 42 years to teaching in Altus Public Schools. The Longs’ connection to Western runs deep, as Renee and both of their sons attended Western. Renee largely credits Larry Duffy for the encouragement and opportunities she received while attending Western Oklahoma State College.

“Western has always been a community taking care of its community, and we chose to partner with Western to help further the education of our students in this community and the surrounding counties,” the Longs shared.

President’s Partners provide annual support to the WOSC Foundation, helping fund scholarships, strengthen programs, and create opportunities for students.

“Rene Long faithfully served Altus as a teacher and administrator and worked alongside her husband, Lonnie, in taking care of our community through the pharmacy.  They have been strong supporters of everything Altus and have a great sense of pride for Western.  We are so grateful for their belief in our campus and appreciate them standing beside us as we work together to further the mission,” Dr. Wiginton, President, said.

The WOSC Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 organization that exists to generate support for the students and programs of Western Oklahoma State College.
