Please begin by using the Online Classes Browser Check to make sure your internet browser is OK to use with Moodle, aka Online Classes. More info about browsers can be found below.
REQUIREMENT: Cookies and popups must be enabled for wosc.edu. (see below for instructions) Quizzes will not work if pop-ups are being blocked by any program.
PLEASE NOTE: Western's standard software for word processing, spreadsheets and presentations is currently Microsoft Office 2007, with file extensions of .doc, .xls, and .ppt. File extensions such as .wps (MS Works) are not acceptable. MS Works users should go under the "File" menu to "Save As.." and check the various file formats to which the file can be saved. Potential alternatives also include the use of OpenOffice and Google Docs which can both manage these types of files. Acceptable formats may include: .doc (Word2003 or earlier), .docx (Word2007), .rtf (Rich Text Format), .pdf (Adobe Acrobat), .xls (Excel2003 or earlier), .xlsx (Excel2007), .ppt/pps (PowerPoint2003 or earlier), .pptx/ppsx (PowerPoint2007), or .jpg (JPEG). Depending on the course and instructor, other file formats may be acceptable, so be sure to ask your instructor or check the assignment requirements in your course.
Moodle and Campus Connect Technical Help
Please follow these steps before calling tech support as these are the most common issues for Moodle. Each More Info. link will give you detailed directions and information to help you along.
GET YOUR USERNAME and PASSWORD: 1. Go to Campus Connect. 2. Enter you Student ID and Pin. Student ID is your social security number and the Pin will at first be your date of birth(MMDDYYYY) 3. Click on Student Information and scroll down and click on Demographic Data 4. Included in the demographic data will be your username for online classes, and for the Computer labs on our campus, and your WOSC email address.
1. Go to http://moodle.wosc.edu/ and type in your username (firstname.lastname) and password press the Login button and your classes will show in the top left corner. 2. If the class is not visible, that means the instructor has not made it visible to student yet. Contact your instructor for more information.
3. If your login was not successful, please try these possible solutions. Expand for More Info.
1.Enable cookies-See #6, under general issues, to learn how. 2. If you have just enrolled, it may take up to 24 hours for your information to be updated. 3. Students must send their official transcript to admissions after taking 9 credit hours with WOSC. 4. Also try highlighting your password from Campus Connect, then copy and past them into Moodle. 5. Make sure the CAPS lock is not on.

CACHE Microsoft Internet Explorer how-to: IE8 = Tools > Internet Options > Delete under Browser History > Delete Files. IE7 = Tools > Internet Options > Delete under Browser History > Delete Files. IE6 = Tools > Internet Options > Delete Files & Delete Cookies(Temporary Internet Files). Mozilla Firefox how-to: Tools > Clear Private Data > ensure only "Cache" and "Cookies" are checked and click "Clear Private Data Now". Apple Safari how-to: Edit > Empty Cache > Empty. Google Chrome how-to: Click the wrench icon top right > Clear Browsing Data > ensure only "Empty the cache" and "Delete cookies" are checked and click "Clear Browsing Data". (If you can not find the menu bar with Tools, press the Alt button on the keyboard - Alt+F to show the file menu.)
DEFRAGMENT To defragment your drive go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Defragmenter Make sure C: is highlighted, then click defragment. (you must have at least 15% free disk space)
UPDATE
To update windows, open Internet Explorer and click Tools > Windows Update.
Download and install Spybot with the default settings. After finishing the install, go through and complete the 7 steps of the Spybot Wizard. From the left bar, click Immunize. After it searches click the button Immunize with the green plus sign. Then click Search and Destroy click Check for problems, it will ask if you want to delete your Temporary Internet Files, say Yes! It will drastically speed up the scan time. After completing the scan click Fix selected problems. Done.
Download and install Ad-Aware with the default settings. After finishing the install, close the registration window. Click Web Update to make sure the program is up to date. Click Scan System and if you have time, we recommend you choose the Full Scan over the Smart Scan, both clean well but the full digs deeper in the system. Fix any problems that have been found. Done.
Download and install Hitman Pro with the default settings. You will notice during the installation that Spybot will ask to allow or deny a change to the registry, you need to allow change. This is a protective device that will serve you well in the future. After installation is complete simply click Next. Done.
If you have run all three programs and the problem persists, you should call your nearest professional computer technician.
