The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation, Inc., proudly announces that Adrian Gaytan has been awarded the Darlene Bock Scholarship. This prestigious award recognizes Adrian’s exceptional academic achievements and dedication to excellence. As a standout student, Adrian exemplifies the values and aspirations the scholarship aims to encourage.

The Darlene Bock Scholarship was initiated by Darlene Bock, a long-time educator at Altus Junior College / Western Oklahoma State College. Darlene dedicated over 25 years to teaching and claimed she "loved every day of it!" The intent of the scholarship is to support students who share this same passion for teaching. The scholarship is awarded to a student from southwest Oklahoma, graduating from Western with a minimum 3.0 GPA and pursuing a degree in education.

Adrian graduated from Frederick High School and is a 2025 graduate of Western Oklahoma State College. He will attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Math Education. Adrian’s career goal is to be a well-known teacher and high school football coach.

Adrian says he chose education because he believes he can truly help lead young men and women to do the right thing and strive to be their best. He said, “Whether that is in the classroom or on the football field, I just want to help people succeed like the faculty and staff at Western have helped me.”

The Darlene Bock Scholarship aims to support outstanding students in their academic and professional pursuits, fostering the next generation of leaders and innovators. The scholarship, established in 2022, will continue to provide financial assistance and mentorship to numerous students in years to come.

The WOSC Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Mrs. Bock for her generous support and dedication to helping students achieve their dreams of becoming educators.

The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation provides the opportunity to invest in the future by offering many ways to give.
