D’Lese Travis (Weatherford) appeared before the Senate Education Committee for appointment to the Western Oklahoma State College Board of Regents on May 3, 2022. She will succeed Clint Abernathy and will serve a seven–year term, ending March 24, 2029. “I am honored to serve Western Oklahoma State College on the board of regents. I strongly believe in the college’s mission and the inspiring opportunities offered the students. The spirit and culture of the board and leadership are a great asset to the college and I am truly looking forward to joining this great group of leaders,” said Ms. Travis.
D’Lese Travis joined the General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute & Museum team as Executive Director in June of 2016. Travis earned her B.A. degree from the University of Central Oklahoma and brings over 30 years of experience in marketing and promotions as well as event and facility management to the position. Travis is responsible for supervising leadership development initiatives based on the core principals of the program, special events, marketing and promotions, and day-to-day operations of the Leadership Institute and Museum. Travis works with the Board of Directors to develop the strategic direction, fundraising, and programs to fulfill the mission and vision of the Leadership Institute and Museum, and engages the national advisory board as resources for program concept. In addition to her role with General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum, she serves on the Board of Directors for the Oklahoma Museums Association and the Great Plains Country Association. Travis is a past-president of two state associations: Oklahoma Cattlewomen and Meeting Professional’s International of Oklahoma and has served in a leadership capacity for Oklahoma Society of Association Executives.
