The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation, Inc. proudly announces that Tiona White has been awarded the Darlene Bock Scholarship. This prestigious award recognizes Tiona's exceptional academic achievements.

Darlene Bock, a long-time educator at Altus Junior College/Western Oklahoma State College, initiated the Darlene Bock Scholarship. Darlene dedicated over 25 years to teaching and claims she "loved every day of it!" The scholarship intends to support students who share this same passion for teaching. The scholarship is awarded to a student from southwest Oklahoma, graduating from Western with a minimum 3.0 GPA and pursuing a degree in education.

Tiona is a 2024 graduate of Western and will attend Southwestern Oklahoma State University in the fall to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. She chose education to follow in the footsteps of many family members. She said, "I decided on elementary because to see a child's face light up whenever they get a question correct or when they explore something new is such a sweet moment. It gives me a warm feeling when I know students look up to me and they have so much joy learning. Knowing that I am teaching the next generation can be a challenge but an amazing journey".

The Darlene Bock Scholarship aims to support outstanding students in their academic and professional pursuits, fostering the next generation of leaders and innovators. This scholarship, established in 2022, will continue to provide financial assistance and mentorship to numerous students in years to come.

The WOSC Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Bock for her generous support and dedication to helping students achieve their dreams of becoming educators.

The Western Oklahoma State College Foundation provides the opportunity to invest in the future by offering many ways to give.
