Mr. Sawders is a Christian and a retired Air Force officer, former Squadron Commander and Chief of Police with extensive experience in security and law enforcement as well as a former Nuclear Security Project Manager (nuclear security executive for a power plant) for multiple nuclear power plants. Mr. Sawders also taught graduate level leadership and professional development courses as well as doctrine and strategy at Air University as a member of the Squadron Officer College faculty and was the 33 rd Student Squadron Operations Officer (VP) as well. Mr. Sawders was also a Leadership Development Manager in the civilian sector for G4S Regulated Security Solutions. Prior to his position at Western, Mr. Sawders was the owner of Straight Arrow Workforce Performance and Management Consulting. Mr. Sawders has experience running large organizations with over 400 personnel and with large budgets of $27 Million. A career outlier is that Mr. Sawders was a member of the USAF Force Protection Battle Lab which conducted research and development for the security industry, primarily conducting experiments and proving concepts for full development and acquisition. Of note, he worked on a command and
control and sensor fusion platform and on such projects as non-lethal directed energy weapons.
Mr. Sawders has been married to the former Patricia Ann Doyle of Peterborough, England since 1988. They are members of Friendship Baptist Church and live at Lake Altus near Lone Wolf. He likes to fish and work on projects in his workshop, and loves being a part of this community by working for Western Oklahoma State College. He is a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and a member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and formerly a member of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).
