Charles R. and Chauncey C. Barrett               Back to Inductee List

Charles R. and Chauncey C. Barrett, twin brothers and long-time Jackson county farmers, graduated from Altus Junior College in 1941. They both have served in positions of leadership in civic and church organizations, as well as running a very successful farming operation, which was featured in the Oklahoma Farmer Stockman magazine. They were jointly awarded the prestigious Oklahoma Master Agronomist award in 1972 by Oklahoma State University. They farmed as partners until their retirement in 1975. Chauncey is married to the former Ruth Caves, and Charles is married to her sister, Ferne. Both have been deacons in the Martha Baptist Church and Altus First Baptist Church. The Barretts have been long-time members of the Gideons, and are both charter members of the Altus camp. Chauncey was a member of the Martha school board for 20 years and was a Farm Bureau board member for many years. Charles served 43 years on the gin board in Martha and 15 years as a trustee for Southwest Rural Electric Cooperative.
