Departmental Mission Statement
The Learning Resources Center is committed to providing open and equal access to an organized collection of information sources and instructional equipment to meet the varied informational, learning, and developmental needs of the citizens of Southwest Oklahoma. The development of information retrieval skills through the use of traditional resources combined with current technology is provided by qualified staff through a variety of instructional methods.

Learning Resources Center Director
Suzanne has worked at Western Oklahoma State College since March of 2012. She has previously worked in various types of libraries, archives and special collections since 2009. She formerly served as a Digital Collections Librarian for the Thomas C. Oden Rare Book Collection. For two years she served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma’s Western History Collections and she has also worked at the University of Oklahoma’s Youngblood Energy Library. She completed an internship at the University of Oklahoma’s History of Science Collections.
Suzanne received her Master of Arts in Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 2011. During graduate school she specialized in special libraries with an emphasis on the digitization of resource materials.
Suzanne earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Oklahoma in 2006. She earned an Associate of Arts in Psychology from Oklahoma City Community College in 2004.
Suzanne's LRC responsibilities include, but are not limited to: overseeing the LRC, performing staff scheduling, hiring and training; overseeing aquisitions, circulation, collection development, website development and reference. She also instructs faculty, staff, students and the public on how to effectively use information resources. She oversees the departmental budget, purchasing, inventory maintenance and serves on several WOSC committees.

Library Technical Assistant
Joanne began working full time as a Library Clerk in September 1996. She advanced to the position of Library Technical Assistant in July 2002. She worked part time in the LRC Computer lab for two years prior to that time. Joanne spent nearly 20 years previous to working in the LRC, serving the public in various potions within the Altus community.
Joanne has an Associates of Science in Business Administration and an Associates of Applied Science in Computer Software from WOSC. She completed her Associates of Applied Science degree in Library Technical Assistant from Rose State College in December 2001. Joanne acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Cameron in May 2013. Joanne has been a member of the Oklahoma Library Association since 1999 and has been involved with the OLA membership committee, support staff roundtable, and the University and College division. Joanne was also a participant in the OLA Gold Leadership Institute in November 2013.
Joanne’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to managing the Library Automation System, class/student orientations, Bindery, Serials Management, Statistics, overseeing the shifting of the collection and shelf reading, balancing the budget, collection development suggestions, and Inventory. She is also instrumental in training new employees.
Joanne enjoys working with the public and being able to help people. She also enjoys the vast array of information and knowledge that can be found in the LRC. If someone is looking for an item or information, Joanne will be happy to help patrons find what they are looking for.
