Mission: Western's Early Childhood/Child Development program is committed to providing quality education to the students for the ultimate goal of quality early care for young children, their families, and the community.
Programs:
Associate in Science with emphasis in Early Childhood
Graduates wishing to earn their bachelor's degree will need to continue their studies at a four-year institution in the area of Family Consumer Sciences, and will have all the pre-requisites complete for third and fourth year classes.
Associate in Applied Science with emphasis in Child Development
Graduates are prepared for immediate employment opportunities in Head Start programs, child care centers, family child care homes, church-related child care, and as teacher assistants in the public schools.
*The Associate in Science in Early Childhood and Associate in Science in Applied Science in Child Development are accredited by the NAEYC Commission on Early Childhood Associate Degree Accreditation.
Child Development Assistant Certificate
Students completing the Certificate are prepared for employment opportunities in child care centers, family child care homes, church-related, and other similar child care programs.
